Mr. Vaught's practice emphasizes counseling and litigation in the areas of tax, estate planning, asset protection and business law. In 1981, Mr. Vaught received a B.A. degree with honors from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1984, Mr. Vaught received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where he was an editor and contributor for the U.C. Davis Law Review. In 1994, Mr. Vaught received an L.L.M. degree in tax law from Golden Gate University, School of Law. After graduating from Golden Gate University, Mr. Vaught became an adjunct professor of law in the L.L.M. tax program where he continues to teach in the areas of Estate and Gift Taxation, Estate Planning, and Professional Responsibility for Tax Practitioners.
Mr. Vaught has been a member of the California State Bar since 1984. In 1995, the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization certified Mr. Vaught as a Specialist in Taxation Law. He is also a member of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court in all four California Districts, and the U.S. Tax Court. Mr. Vaught has had several of his cases published by these courts and he continues to lecture to various organizations in the areas of estate taxation, estate planning, asset protection and tax procedure.
